It all began in 1969, when Xaver and Michaela Willibald made their dream a reality and opened the small guesthouse with five double and two single rooms. Xaver, a master carpenter and vocational school teacher, contributed his craft skills, while Michaela cared for the guests with her warmth and experience in household management. At 7.50 Deutsche Mark per person including breakfast, the first guests found their way to Benediktenhof at Easter 1969.

The family grew, the house developed – accompanied by challenges such as the flooding of the Arzbach creek in 1972 and 1990. But with passion and togetherness, every new beginning was overcome. Particularly defining: Xaver’s love of beekeeping from 1983 onwards, which to this day gifts Benediktenhof its own sweet honey.

With the antiques shop “Charivari”, Veronika Willibald and Klaus Bichler brought an artistic flair to the house from 1991 onwards. In 1997 son Michael was born, in 2001 daughter Sofie followed – two further chapters of a lived family history. In 1999, exactly 30 years after its founding, Benediktenhof reopened after comprehensive renovation – crafted with great attention to detail.

2005 brought the switch to organic – out of conviction and out of love for nature. After the tragic loss of Veronika in 2008, Klaus and his family continued to run Benediktenhof with great dedication. Today, fluffy alpacas also accompany guests on hikes – and tell their own story of a farm with history, heart and character.

In 2014 the chalet was built – a retreat for those seeking something special. Four years later, in 2018, Klaus and his Andrea said their vows – since then they have been running the family business together with great warmth.

In January 2021, it was time to say farewell to Michaela, the founder of Benediktenhof – a woman full of joie de vivre and hospitality, who shaped the house with her personality.

In 2023 a severe hailstorm presented us with new challenges, but we overcame this trial too, with solidarity and optimism.

Since 2024, daughter Sofie has been supporting the business with fresh energy. Like her mother, she too has hospitality in her blood – and the artistic streak to go with it: as a trained hotel professional and hobby painter, she brings not only dedicated support to the house, but also many painted artworks that give Benediktenhof a very special signature.

And so the story of Benediktenhof continues to grow – carried by family, shaped for people who seek something special.
